Nut Graf

A Nut graf explains why the reader should be reading your article. It explains what is in store in the article, why they should read it, and hooks them in to want to hear more. The nut graf is slang that editorial staff uses to decribe this type of sentence.
Without a nut graf, the reader is simply lost in why they would want to read the article. It allows the reader to grasp a better concept on what the story is really about. The nut graf determines if the article is actually worth reading from the readers point of view.
